Diary of a 53rd Div. soldier

Summary

I think that the diary tells a good story about the 4 to 5 months at the beginning of 1945.
It was my intention to relate the detailed and sometimes very personal descriptions in the diary to the general operations of the 53 Division. I think it is remarkable that the descriptions in the diary almost always match the descriptions in the literature very closely.

To sum it up, I entered the places mentioned in the diary on a map and connected them with lines according to the chronological order (Blue markers and lines).
Since I assume, as I said, that the author of the diary served in the 83rd Field Regiment RA and that it was assigned to the 158th Infantry Brigade, I have entered the places of the 158th Infantry Brigade mentioned in the book of C.N. Barclay as a comparison (Red markers and lines).
The major operations are marked with black areas.
Rest and preparation periods are marked with green areas.

By clicking on the symbol at the top left of the map, a menu opens in which the individual layers can be shown and hidden. By cklicking on the single marker you get information about the town. In addition, for each marker I have indicated the date or period of time when the unit was there.
